Cascade Bicycle Club is proud to partner with Restore Our Waters, the City of Seattle's effort to protect and improve the city's waters by reducing stormwater run-off that carries pollutants. Metals, oil and grease from cars can damage a salmon's ability to find its way back to their spawning grounds, so riding a bike is a great way to keep our waters clean and our salmon healthy. Restore Our Waters Cascade Spawning Cycle is an opportunity for cycling enthusiasts to pledge their commitment to biking and to protecting aquatic habitat!
The Restore Our Waters Cascade Spawning Cycle will change formats and starting locations in 2010. The event will originate in Seward Park and will run in conjunction with Bicycle Sundays. Riders can enjoy a 4-12-mile ride along the lake front or opt for the full deal: a 32-mile self-guided trip around the Seattle. And it will be entirely free for all to enjoy!
In conjuction with the ride, we'll be offering a Salmon Bracelet Scavenger Hunt for kids, as well as other fun, interactive activities. Presented in conjunction with Seattle non-profits, they will help you learn about Seattle's salmon and water - and you'll even be eligible for prizes if you participate!
