Bike on!
Sound Transit Opens the Doors for Bikes

While you may have heard that Sound Transit would not be allowing bikes on the trains during the Link Light Rail launch weekend (July 18 - 19), we are pleased to announce that this is no longer the case.

After several discussions between Sound Transit and Cascade, Sound Transit decided to reverse this decision and allow bikes on the trains. Now before you get too excited about the prospect of bringing your bike on the train during opening weekend, consider the reality of the situation. Sound Transit is anticipating crowds in the hundreds of thousands, which will likely make bringing your bike on board less than desirable.

Given these circumstances, we strongly encourage you to bike to the station and take advantage of Sound Transit’s new bicycle parking and the Cascade- staffed bicycle corrals. If you need to transport your bike during the launch weekend, however, Sound Transit will provide this option. Once the crowds have subsided come Monday, July 20, bringing your bike on the train should be an enjoyable and effortless experience.

We are thrilled that Sound Transit decided to open the trains to bikes on opening weekend, and we commend the agency on its willingness and enthusiasm to work with Cascade to ensure that bicycling plays a viable role in our region’s future transportation system.
